Internet Marketing Strategies
Where to Find Inspiration for Blog Topics

Probably the hardest part of maintaining a business blog is coming up with enough interesting topics to cover on a day-to-day basis. It’s a lot of pressure to consistently post to your business blog, which is why many business owners tend to talk themselves out of what can be a highly effective marketing tool.

The good news is that there are plenty of places where you can draw inspiration for headlines, topics and niches to cover on your blog. Sitting at your computer, staring at a blank screen for hours on end probably isn’t going to get you very far, so here are some ways to spark your imagination and keep things rolling on your blog.

Write What You Know

You’re an expert in your business, so stop and think about some of the top questions your customers ask you or the biggest myths about your industry. Since blog posts are one communication avenue you can use to educate current and potential clients, turn these top questions or biggest myths into blog posts. Since you likely have dozens of questions or myths you can tackle, you’ll have dozens of blog posts scheduled out.

Make A Note

Carry a small notepad around with you. When you have conversations with people or customers related to a work topic, jot the topic of conversation down. Also, listen to conversations taking place around you that may somehow relate to your industry. At the end of the day, or when you’re writing a blog post, pull out the pad and draw inspiration from the potential topics you’ve collected.

Surveys

Read industry publications that provide survey results. Pull one or two of the most interesting results from the survey and build a blog post around the information. You can also create your own surveys, poll your audience and then share the findings of your survey with your audience in a blog post.

Surveying your audience can also help you determine which types of topics they are seeking information on, which can help you to come up with an entire series of blog post topics.

Press Release Websites

Visit press release distribution websites such as PRWeb.com. Glance through press releases related to your business until you find a story that interests you. Generally, you can pull all of the information you need to compose a blog post from the information posted on these sites. If you need further information or wish to conduct an interview of someone at the company in order to round out your blog post, the press releases contain the contact information for you to get in touch with the poster of the release

Daily Life

As you wander through your daily personal and work life, think about how the things and people you come across relate to your business. One marketing consultant, for example, reports being inspired by a documentary that had nothing to do with marketing. She, however, found all the ways the documentary related to marketing and turned it into a blog post for her small business and entrepreneur readers seeking marketing advice. You never know what may inspire your next blog post.

With a variety of sources you can use to draw inspiration, it’s easy to come up with topics for blog posts. When you are inspired, either write the post as it comes to you, or jot down the topic so you’ll remember it when it’s time to compose the post. Never ending sources of information equates to never ending blog posts.
